Antalyaspor – Besiktas
Antalyaspor welcomes the champion Besiktas in a match from the 18th round of the Turkish Super Lig.
Despite of having a big budget, some stars in the team and huge ambitions, for Antalyaspor this season is a pure disaster. The team is currently 16th in the Super Lig standings, having won just 17 points so far. Their record since the start of the campaign is 4 wins, 5 draws and 8 losses. Before the start of the season Antalyaspor hoped to reach a Champions League qualification, but right now they are surprisingly locked in a fight against relegation.
In their last match Antalyaspor celebrated a 3-1 win over Alanyaspor at home. Emre Gural scored twice for the winners, while Deniz Kadah added one more goal for the winning team. It was a rarety to see Antalyaspor winning a match, but at least the club’s fans had some reason to celebrate.
Now Antalyaspor will have a difficult test against the current champion Besiktas.
Last season Besiktas won the title in a comfortable way, but now it looks like a difficult task. The Black Eagles are currently trailing on 6 points behind the leader Fenerbahce, although the leaders have one game more than the champions.
Besiktas’ record this season is 8 wins, 6 draws and 3 defeats. In their last five matches they have won twice, made two draws and lost once. This can tell you how inconsistent the Black Eagles are since the start of the new campaign. And if they lose the title, this is going to be the main reason for this – because they are unable to find the consistency which they had just an year ago.
Although they are playing away from home, Besiktas are the obvious favourite here. Antalyaspor are struggling and fighting against relegation, but be careful – do not write them off too quickly
